Latvian Symbolism is Reborn in Cēsis.
A unique exhibition, the Multimedia Symbolism Performance opened in the Cēsis Castle Barn on the 29th of May this year. Dedicated to Symbolism in Latvian art, it presents more than 40 of the most striking paintings of that time in new colours, sounds and movement. This virtual animation performance features Latvian old masters like Janis Rozentāls, Vilhelms Purvītis, Johann Valters, Pēteris Kalve, Rūdolfs Pērle, Sigismund Vidbergs and others. These are the art works that in 2018 captivated Paris at the Musee d’Orsay in an exhibition that was part of the Latvian centenary celebrations. The producers of the performance are Live Latvija and the Digital Exhibition House Lumiere, in cooperation with the Latvian National Museum of Art.
This digital, educational art-music-literature project, is for both adults and children. It introduces the creative work of outstanding Latvian cultural personalities at the beginning of the 20th century. With his/her presence, each member of the audience becomes a participant in a timeless process, feeling the breath of that time.
This unique digital art exhibition will tour throughout Latvia for several years. Until the 20th of September 20, it will run at the Cēsis Castle Barn, but from the 30th of September, it will be on display at the Liepāja Museum.
